Universal spotlight support 60 – 120 mm (SP2)

The universal SP2 mounting platform Ø60–120 mm is a practical solution for the professional installation of recessed spotlights in stretch ceilings.

The platform serves as a rigid mounting base for the light fixture, transferring its weight to the structural ceiling and preventing the stretch ceiling membrane from bearing the load.

Thanks to its universal diameter range, one platform is suitable for various models of recessed spotlights. The design allows height adjustment, which is particularly important for ensuring that the spotlight sits flush with the stretch ceiling.

Installation Instructions:

1. Preparing the Mounting Supports

Metal perforated mounting tape is used to install the platform. The tape is folded in a concertina shape according to the distance between the structural ceiling and the planned stretch ceiling.

The folds allow the platform height to be adjusted later.

2. Securing the Platform

The perforated tape is attached to the platform using short self-tapping screws with flange heads.

The platform is secured to the concrete structural ceiling using screws and suitable wall plugs. To speed up installation, a gas-powered fastening tool with compatible fasteners can also be used.

3. Installing the Stretch Ceiling Membrane

Once the platform has been installed, the stretch ceiling is fitted. The platform is initially positioned at the required height, with the option of making further adjustments later.

4. Installing the Thermal Ring

A protective thermal ring of the appropriate diameter is glued to the stretched ceiling membrane at the spotlight installation point. Once the ring is securely attached, an opening is carefully cut inside it.

5. Adjusting the Platform and Installing the Spotlight

Through the prepared opening, the platform height is adjusted to match the actual position of the stretch ceiling membrane and account for any sagging.

The platform is aligned flush with the membrane. The spotlight is then connected and secured using its standard spring clips, following the same principle as installation in a plasterboard ceiling.
